The Lighting Installation Specialist will manage the relationship with one client, LA Unified School District, as it relates to lighting product selection, initial approval, specification, and final design approval for each project in development.

The Lighting Installation Specialist will be responsible for the following:
  • Once developed, specified and approval to proceed has been obtained, the incumbent will manage the suppliers and sub-contractors during the construction phase to include as a sample: Provide the Project PM with material part numbers, cut sheets, pricing and expected delivery schedule so PM can create PO’s for the selected vendor.
  • Coordinate with lighting supplier(s) and contractor(s) during the construction phase of all lighting projects. 
  • Provide the Project PM with material part numbers, cut sheets, pricing and expected delivery schedule so PM can create PO’s for the selected vendor.
  • Provide scope of work and pricing to contractor and PM, so PM can issue work order to contractor. 
  • Manage the material deliveries so they arrive ahead of the contractor’s needs.
  • Oversee the contractor’s proper installation of material and control and manage any changes necessary during construction. 
  • Oversee the return and credit of any incorrect or unused material. 
  • Regularly communicate with client to insure client is pleased with results of installation and understands any new controls. 
  • Either personally commission the controls or coordinate with outside vendors for proper commissioning.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Manager.
  • Ability to travel to project locations on a regular basis and clearly communicate with a wide variety of interested parties, customers, manufacturers, distributers, contractors and OpTerra project teams for a successful installation of all lighting projects. 
  • Detail oriented so the proper material gets ordered, delivered, installed, commissioned and tested in each space.
  • Ability to see details during installation to insure contractor is demonstrating craftsmanship in their work and to manage any changes that are made during construction.

  • High School diploma
  • Minimum 1-3 years of construction or project management experience
  • 1-3 years of Lighting specification/installation/contractor experience
  • Some college and 3-5 years of construction or project management experience

  • Normal Office Environment, construction job site and construction trailer environment.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer in the office as well as on construction sites to manage installation data as well as commissioning of controls.
  • Ability to lift boxes and operate pallet jack to assist with material handling on job sites as needed.

  • Reports to: Regional Lighting Manager
  • Hours: Exempt with varying hours
  • Travel: Travel to job sites is expected
  • Location: Los Angeles Region ( can be located out of the Riverside, Orange or Pasadena, CA offices)
