Business Development is at the epicenter of our company’s growth. We rely on these individuals for their commercial acumen, skill at client engagement, and leadership capabilities. They are the leaders speaking at City Council meetings, with elected officials in the State Capitol, and representing our company in the communities we serve. They develop strategies to generate new business for our firm, and work tirelessly on creative ideas to bring our solution sets to solve our clients’ challenges and exceed their expectations. A sizable element of our team’s success rests on communicating OpTerra’s value proposition and gaining access to our target client market, and this is where the Customer Development Team comes into play.
The Customer Development Associate is responsible for the activities associated with supporting and empowering our Business Development organization, and operates with three core objectives: (1) Lead Generation and Qualification, (2) Early Program Development, and (3) Engagement Optimization. We are looking for a strategic thinker who is driven and motivated by a career within the Business Development world, and wants to gain direct experience working with public sector clients, learn about our innovative clean-tech business and create long-term positive social and environmental impact.

The Customer Development Associate will be responsible for the following:
  • Turnkey campaign development and execution in the Western U.S. from conceptualization to close-out, including crafting customized written collateral to send to target clients and connecting with clients at multiple levels to generate new business opportunities
  • Articulating our value proposition and go-to-market strategy for specific markets/verticals
  • Engaging with our clients to generate interest and momentum and setting-up opportunities for our business teams
  • Data-tracking within CRM to drive improved analytics
  • Working with key internal parties to develop customized Sales collateral to support engagement and improve viability of project advancement
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelors' degree
  • World-class written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability strategies, energy efficiency, and renewable energy and passion to serve others and make a difference.
  • Demonstrated financial and business acumen.
  • Strong MS Office (Word, PowerPoint) skills
  • Masters' degree in business administration, marketing, communication, sustainability, or engineering field.
  • 1-3+ years of business experience working in business development, strategy, finance, or management consulting

  • Ability to Travel  < 10%  of the time
  • Normal Office Environment
