The Marketing team’s overarching business goals are to accomplish the following that result in more orders, higher margin contribution, and greater customer satisfaction:

At the nexus of the company’s core functions, we collaborate with sales and operations to create, calculate, communicate and capture customer value.  From corporate marketing to market strategy, solutions development, and field marketing, this group has nationwide responsibilities across our Public Sector and Commercial & Industrial divisions.  Our efforts span the following areas of Marketing practice:
  • Strategy: grow and scale new business opportunities, i.e. solutions & market segments
  • Corporate Marketing: Create and promote a unique, differentiated One OpTerra position, brand, and company
  • Field Marketing: Increase customer & employee perception of the value OpTerra provides; includes Competitive Intelligence, Deal Support, Lead Generation & Campaigns
  • Product Marketing: Create differentiated programs, projects, solutions and services
We measure our success by how our work impacts EBITDA, e.g. accelerating deal cycles, growing program scopes, opening up market segments, strengthening market presence, among other activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leveraging experience in these areas of marketing practice, the Senior Marketing Analyst will quarterback marketing initiatives, inform Sales decisions, and power the Marketing function to excel in its areas of practice.  The ideal candidate is an out-of-the-box thinker who has the business acumen, poise, and professional confidence to work as part of our dynamic team, and openness to tackling unique projects that support our business growth.

1 35 Quarterbacks field marketing support: Leads the creation of market-specific offerings, messaging, presentations, and collateral for lead generation efforts and to advance live sales pursuits.  Develop and support implementation of marketing campaigns.

Provides business intelligence and expertise in key target market(s): Uncovers and shares knowledge, understanding, and insight in key public sector market(s), including K-12 school districts, higher education, and local government.  Tracks trends, critical customer issues and competitive intelligence.  Conducts market, industry and customer-specific research to inform BD activities.  Attends customer meetings and events to gather market intelligence.  Implement research projects that answer particular business questions.
 
3 15 Creates marketing plans, establishes metrics, and reports out on progress: Leads the creation of strategic and tactical plans to implement key marketing initiatives as outlined in the Annual Marketing Plan with guidance from Manager of Market Strategy. Leads cross-functional teams to achieve results from marketing initiatives; measures and tracks progress with clear metrics; engages and gathers feedback from key stakeholders; and creates and shares periodic internal updates to OpTerra teams. Contributes to and facilitates regional and national sales/marketing meetings to increase OES teams’ expertise in key markets and share new marketing materials / programs.
 
4 20 Delivers market analysis and targeting: Lead market segmentation, positioning exercises, and customer targeting.
 
5 10 Supervises full-time and/or part-time, local and remote contractor(s): Develop team’s capacity and skill-sets, while shepherding initiatives to completion as Manager of Market Strategy’s “Chief of Staff.”

Data/Market Analysis: Collect, analyze, understand and synthesize  industry information (technological, social, political and economic), market trends, and customer specific research to develop insight into customer needs; disseminate information to the sales organization

Business Acumen:  Demonstrate insight and understanding of sales, business and marketing processes
Competitive Differentiation:  Ability to recognize what differentiates OES from competitors in the market, and then to be able to effectively communicate this in marketing materials and  in interactions with OES employees and customers
Value Creation:  Ability to create value by increasing the effectiveness of the sales and project development organization via the identification of market/customer opportunities, the implementation of marketing campaigns and the creation of sales support materials; to expand current OES offerings with new services and assistance for our customers that further differentiate OES from competitors
Relationship Adeptness:  Able to interact positively and effectively with OES employees to gather internal knowledge, implement streamlined processes, build organizational capacity; able to build strong relationships within the Sales, Strategy, Marketing, Operations, Legal and Communications team at OES; able to manage and develop contractors and interns
Customer Focus:  Work with the sales and operations teams to develop deliverables and/or meet with customers throughout the sales process with the aim of supporting and closing deals; drawing from market expertise and sales insights to better understand customer needs and drivers and then develop ways to better communicate the value of OES to customers
Communication Skills:  Able to clearly communicate with both internal OES teams and external organizations and experts; superior listener with strong writing, business reporting, presentation and communication skills
Ethics and Integrity:  Consistent, long history of doing the "right" thing particularly in the face of adversity or ambiguity
Learning and Development:  Demonstrated track record of developing and applying new skills and knowledge; dedicated to developing  strong management and leadership skills 
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • 6 – 8 years of energy industry experience, preferably B2B
  • Demonstrated expertise in sustainability strategies, energy efficiency, and renewable energy with a passion to make a difference
  • Track record of success project managing and owning sales and marketing initiatives to achieve quantitative performance metrics
  • Excellent time management, decision-making, interpersonal, presentation, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated thought leadership, intellectual rigor and curiosity
  • Superior Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to meet short deadlines in fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Master’s degree in Business, Sustainability or relevant environmental field


Preferred:
  • M&A or corporate development experience
  • Market segmentation and strategy experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Expertise in copy writing and collateral development
  • Experience performing analytical marketing functions
