The Marketing team’s overarching business goals are to accomplish the following that result in more orders, higher margin contribution, and greater customer satisfaction:

At the nexus of the company’s core functions, we collaborate with sales and operations to create, calculate, communicate and capture customer value.  From corporate marketing to market strategy, solutions development, and field marketing, this group has nationwide responsibilities across our Public Sector and Commercial & Industrial divisions.  Our efforts span the following areas of Marketing practice:
  • Strategy: grow and scale new business opportunities, i.e. solutions & market segments
  • Corporate Marketing: Create and promote a unique, differentiated One OpTerra position, brand, and company
  • Field Marketing: Increase customer & employee perception of the value OpTerra provides; includes Competitive Intelligence, Deal Support, Lead Generation & Campaigns
  • Product Marketing: Create differentiated programs, projects, solutions and services
We measure our success by how our work impacts EBITDA, e.g. accelerating deal cycles, growing program scopes, opening up market segments, strengthening market presence, among other activities.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leveraging experience in these areas of marketing practice, the Field Marketing Specialist will quarterback the development of customized content to help generate leads, advance live pursuits, and differentiate OpTerra. The ideal candidate is an out-of-the-box thinker who has the B2B business acumen, stellar copywriting capabilities, and professional confidence to work as part of our dynamic team.

1 70 Quarterbacks field marketing content: Leads the creation of market and deal-specific messages, content for email/direct mail campaigns, and copy for customized collateral and other field outlets (e.g. conferences, tradeshows, events, ads, posters etc.); corporate content support as needed (e.g. website). Heads up internal creative process with Marketing, Design, and Communications as needed, acting as the sole point of contact with the business partner (e.g. Sales).

Provides content marketing expertise: Supports lead generation efforts to advance live sales pursuits. Delivers creative strategy, copywriting, brand storytelling, content marketing, earned media, SEO, editing, thought leadership, project management, video production, lead generation, analytics, and research specialties to drive orders and advance business.
 
3 10 Tracks industry and market segment trends: Provides insights into the sustainability industry and relevant market segments (e.g. K-12, higher education, local government) to better position our offerings, solutions, and programs.
 
Main Job Activities
  • Content Development: customer-focused copywriting in the context of the business and marketing goals, working collaboratively within the Marketing function, and externally with Sales, Ops, and other Support teams.
  • Business Acumen:  Demonstrate insight and understanding of sales, business (B2B, and secondarily B2C), and marketing processes
  • Communication Skills:  Able to clearly communicate with both internal OES teams and external organizations and experts; superior listener with strong writing, business reporting, presentation and communication skills
  • Competitive Differentiation:  Ability to recognize what differentiates OES from competitors in the market, and then to be able to effectively communicate this in marketing materials and in interactions with OES employees and customers
  • Project Management:  Strong problem solving, time management, organizational and resource management skills with attention to detail and ability to advance projects and meet deadlines
  • Relationship Adeptness:  Able to interact positively and effectively with OES employees to gather internal knowledge, implement streamlined processes, build organizational capacity; able to build strong relationships within the Sales, Strategy, Marketing, Operations, Legal and Communications team at OES
  • Ethics and Integrity:  Consistent, long history of doing the "right" thing particularly in the face of adversity or ambiguity
  • Learning and Development:  Demonstrated track record of developing and applying new skills and knowledge; dedicated to developing strong management and leadership skills 
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Qualifications:
  • 5 – 7 years of content marketing experience, preferably B2B
  • Demonstrated expertise in the energy, sustainability and/or clean tech industry, including energy efficiency, renewable energy and energy infrastructure companies
  • Excellent copywriting capability, including written and verbal communication skills Track record of success project managing and owning sales/marketing initiatives to achieve quantitative performance metrics
  • Excellent time management, decision-making, interpersonal, presentation, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated thought leadership, intellectual rigor and curiosity
  • Superior Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to meet short deadlines in fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Quick learner and application of feedback
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Rhetoric, Business/Marketing or relevant energy field
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Managerial experience running content marketing platform/program
  • Public sector work experience (e.g. education, local government)
  • Graphic design skills (e.g. InDesign)
  • Experience performing analytical marketing functions
